BEIJING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China:
COSMIC RADIATION
China's Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO), a high-altitude cosmic ray observatory, has released the precise energy spectrum for the highest-energy gamma-ray radiation from the brightest gamma-ray burst (GRB) observed to date.
The study, conducted by the LHAASO collaboration team, was led by the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the findings were published recently in the journal Science Advances.
LITHIUM BATTERY
The ongoing China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) has seen Chinese scientists unveiling a newly-developed battery that can work in extreme cold and heat.
This lithium battery can work in a minimum temperature as low as minus 70 degrees Celsius and can also function in heat up to a maximum of 80 degrees Celsius, according to its designer Jiang Chunlei, who is from the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The battery's energy density is 13 to 25 percent higher than that of traditional lithium-ion batteries, which allows it to achieve longer battery life.
PANDA RESEARCH
The national giant panda conservation and research center, a world-class platform for giant panda research cooperation and exchange, was inaugurated Friday in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, southwest China.
The center integrates the resources of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda and the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, gathering outstanding giant panda research teams from across the country.
