BEIJING, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news in China.
REMOTE SENSING SATELLITE
China sent a new remote sensing satellite into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the southwestern province of Sichuan on Monday.
The satellite, Yaogan-36, was launched by a Long March-2D carrier rocket at 9:38 p.m. (Beijing Time) and has entered the planned orbit successfully.
NEW DISCOVERY BY LAMOST
Chinese astronomers have detected a non-accreting and non-beaming neutron star using the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST), a leading optical telescope in China, according to a study published in the journal Nature Astronomy.
The discovery has promoted the detection of dense celestial bodies such as neutron stars and black holes, which are difficult to detect. It will likely boost further study on the formation and evolution of stars and the physical properties and formation theory of neutron stars and black holes.
DIGITAL MASK
Chinese researchers have developed a digital mask to make anonymity when seeing a doctor come true and save patients' facial privacy, according to a research article recently published in the journal, Nature Medicine.
The face can present a variety of physiological or pathological features of the human body. Thus, facial information is important for clinical diagnosis and the treatment of diseases, including ophthalmology, cardiovascular, and nervous systems.
