Atlanta-based Scientific Intake announced it is launching a search for potential partners to commercialize Smartbyte, the first and only FDA-cleared, non-invasive device clinically proven to aid in weight loss.
Smartbyte received FDA clearance in 2016 as a non-surgical device which fits like a retainer in the mouth and works to modify eating behavior by slowing down the eating process, therefore giving the stomach time to tell the brain it is full before overeating occurs.
"This is an extraordinary, cost-effective product with one of the best safety profiles in the market and a clinically proven record of weight loss among overweight and moderately obese users," said Dick Schneider, CEO for Scientific Intake. "With the endorsement and support from several of the country's leading authorities on obesity, Smartbyte could have an enormous impact on the weight-loss industry when matched with the right platform and resources." Schneider goes on to add "The COVID-19 pandemic underscores the urgency in tackling obesity. Thankfully, it has also sped the innovation and acceptance of more efficient delivery channels like telemedicine and retail clinics that could more easily provide Smartbyte to those who need it most."
